Queen Amidala: a woman of style.
Queen Amidala is the epitome of an ideal political figure in today’s world. She upholds democracy’s dogma about fair-play and equality and it has been proven by her stern disapproval about militarism. Because of this, she has been the target of the many antagonists who wish to rule the whole galaxy.
Her character was well-loved by many. Feminists could argue that her portrayal in the film, a woman of dignity and power that is, turned everything around since women are no longer seen as underdogs, powerless and subordinate to the males.
Her role was portrayed by Natalie Portman, an Israeli-American actress who also starred in The Professional and Beautiful Girls.
